How Monuwehkahal Homes Makes a Difference
Monuwehkahal Homes (an Oromocto First Nation organization) operates homes for children, youth, and adults in need of alternative housing solutions. Our mission is to offer exceptional care rooted in dignity, compassion, and evidence-informed practices.
To make this possible, we seek team members who bring kindness, patience, compassion, professionalism, and proactive dedication to their work. In return, we offer comprehensive medical, dental, and pension benefits for full-time employees after they successfully complete their probation period.
Your Impact as a Team Lead
As a Team Lead, you will oversee one of our homes and the Youth Support Workers who work in it. You will establish the routines, house rules, and procedures that allow every shift to provide the same standard of care, and make sure each young person’s care plan, as directed by their social worker, is carried out in practice. During the week, you will be the first point of contact for your staff, working closely with Monuwehkahal management, each young person’s social worker, and others involved in their care.
The role suits someone with frontline experience in child and youth care who has led staff or is ready to. It calls for clear direction, sound judgment when a situation escalates, and a consistent standard across every shift.
Your Responsibilities as a Team Lead
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the home, providing direction and support to the Youth Support Workers and other staff who work in it
- Implement each young person’s care plan and the guidelines set by their social worker, and make sure all staff on shift have the information they need to follow them
- Establish and refine the home’s routines, house rules, policies, and procedures in collaboration with Monuwehkahal management, consistent with each young person’s care plan
- Collaborate with management on the home’s staff schedule, approve shift changes, and help resolve gaps in coverage
- Review and approve staff timesheets each week, correcting clock-in and clock-out errors
- Respond to incidents, disclosures, missed medication, and other concerns raised by staff, debrief staff afterward, and work with Monuwehkahal management on next steps, including communication with the young person’s social worker
- Complete the home’s weekly report, and make sure staff shift reporting is complete, accurate, and submitted on time
- Maintain each young person’s calendar of appointments, school, family time, and activities, and coordinate the staffing and transport each requires
- Orient new staff to the home, hold regular check-ins and team meetings, provide coaching and feedback, and raise performance or conduct concerns with management
- Manage the household needs of the home, including groceries and supplies, receipts, maintenance requests, and routine safety checks
What We’re Looking For (Preferred Qualifications)

- Experience with staff scheduling and timesheets
- Current NVCI and Standard First Aid and CPR certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of the child and youth care system, along with an understanding of trauma-informed care principles and strengths-based care practices
What You Must Have (Minimum Qualifications)
- Experience working directly with children or youth in a care, social services, or similar setting
- Demonstrated ability to give clear direction, support a team, and hold staff to a consistent standard
