Materials Manager – Mattress-in-a-Box Plant
VPC Group Inc. | Comfort Business Unit | Full-time
The Role
You’ll manage the flow of materials in our mattress-in-a-box plant: foam, fabrics, packaging and other components. You’ll also own the production schedule and keep customers informed about their orders. The goal is simple: the right material, in the right place, at the right time, so we ship what we promised, when we promised it.
What You’ll Do
Lead purchasing, planning, scheduling, inventory, receiving and warehousing, and the team that does that work.
Plan materials from the forecast and customer orders, avoiding both stockouts and excess inventory.
Build and manage the production schedule, balancing demand, material availability, line capacity and changeovers, and working closely with Production, Quality and Shipping.
Keep customers up to date on order status, lead times and shipment dates. Work with Sales and Customer Service to set realistic commitments, and let customers know early if something changes.
Manage suppliers on lead time and delivery, and raise issues early.
Keep inventory records accurate through cycle counts and month-end reconciliation.
Keep the warehouse safe,
organized and tidy, including forklift safety, 5S, and near-hit reporting.
Look for ways to reduce waste and simplify processes in receiving, kitting and line feeding.
Coach and support your team, and report on KPIs honestly.
What You Bring
5+ years in materials, supply chain, planning or procurement in manufacturing. Foam, mattress, bedding or furniture experience is an asset.
Clear communication skills, including with customers and senior leaders.
Solid ERP/MRP and Excel skills, and a working knowledge of lean and 5S.
Experience leading hourly and supervisory teams, ideally in a unionized setting.
A degree or diploma in supply chain, business or engineering. CPIM, CSCP or CPSM is an asset.
Import/export and customs experience is an asset.
What It’s Like to Work Here
A growing business with current products, new markets.
A team that values safety, respect and speaking up when something isn’t right.
Clear goals and KPIs, and the chance to make a real difference.
Pay: From $85,000.00 per week
Benefits:
