Radiance Plastic Surgery
Canmore
Please note: This position is in Canmore, Alberta. Applications must include both a resume and a cover letter. Please do not call the clinic.
About the role
We are a private plastic surgery practice with a CPSA-accredited Non-Hospital Surgical Facility: one operating room, a recovery room and a small, close team. You report to the Medical Director.
This role has two equally demanding components, and both are full jobs.
Running the OR. You lead the OR and recovery room team, work hands-on when the day needs it, and make sure every case is ready before it starts.
Compliance and accreditation. You own the facility's CPSA compliance program: about 160 recurring records, checks, reviews, drills and credentials, each tied to a CPSA standard. They are tracked on our online compliance register, which tells you what is due. You keep the facility inspection-ready every day, not just in the months before a survey.
We are looking for someone who is engaged by both components and maintains a consistent routine so that neither is neglected.
Key Responsibilities:
Running the OR:
- Lead and supervise OR, recovery room, Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) and OR aide staff
- Work hands-on in scrub, circulating and recovery roles, cover breaks and help with turnovers
- Accept anaesthesia-approved charts, update chart status in Accuro and chase missing tests and documents, so every case is ready: chart, equipment, implants, medications and special orders
- Complete post-operative day 1 phone calls and daily chart audits
- Stock the OR and recovery room, and order supplies, medications, narcotics and implants
- Build the OR staffing schedule and lead weekly OR planning meetings
- Handle controlled substances to regulatory standard, including narcotic counts
- Tag failed equipment out of service, log it,
notify the Medical Director and arrange repair before reuse
Compliance and accreditation:
- Work the compliance register every month: confirm the daily and weekly log sheets are complete (sterilization, MDR, room checks, fridge temperatures, narcotic counts, cleaning) and file the records
- Quarterly checks of staff credentials, ACLS and BLS, and immunizations; quarterly chart audit with the Medical Director; patient experience surveys
- Fire, malignant hyperthermia, anaphylaxis and other emergency drills every six months, with written records
- Equipment preventive maintenance, calibration and vendor service on schedule
- Infection prevention: hand hygiene audits, cleanliness assessments, and infection and complication tracking
- Incident review, including patient safety events and sharps injuries
- Staff orientation and annual competencies
- Policy and manual review, and keeping accreditation evidence current to CPSA standards and AORN and ORNAC nursing standards
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), or eligibility to register before you start
- At least 5 years of OR nursing, with current skills in scrub, circulating and recovery
- Real compliance experience: you have kept a facility survey-ready, run audits or drills, and kept records that would stand up to an inspector. CPSA NHSF experience is a solid asset
- Leadership experience: you have supervised staff,
built schedules and dealt with performance problems
- Current ACLS
- Knowledge of AORN and ORNAC standards
- The ability to complete tasks independently and reliably, without requiring reminders. In a team our size, any routine that slips affects everyone
- Comfort with an EMR (we use Accuro) and online tools, including AI
- Warm, clear communication with patients who chose to be here
What We Offer:
- Group benefits: extended health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance
- Employee assistance program and wellness program
