Job Description

Tarkine North Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Painter / Site Manager to supervise and coordinate painting operations at CFB Suffield. The successful candidate will provide hands-on leadership, supervise painting crews, coordinate project activities, communicate with DND representatives and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and according to project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

· Supervise, coordinate and participate in interior and exterior painting operations.

· Assign daily tasks and oversee painters, apprentices and helpers.

· Coordinate crews, materials, equipment and site access.

· Plan and oversee surface preparation, line painting, sandblasting and epoxy flooring.

· Communicate with DND representatives, project authorities and inspectors.

· Maintain accurate daily timesheets, labour records and material records.

· Monitor workmanship, conduct quality inspections and address deficiencies.

· Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements and hazardous-material handling.

· Coordinate painting activities in occupied buildings while minimizing disruption.

· Organize crews to respond promptly to project call-ups and meet deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

· Recognized Journeyperson Painter and Decorator certification is mandatory.

· Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement is an asset.

· Several years of commercial, industrial or institutional painting experience.





· Proven experience supervising painting crews and coordinating work activities.

· Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation and coating systems.

· Ability to read specifications, drawings and work instructions.

· Experience with commercial epoxy flooring is an asset.

· Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation.

· WHMIS and other applicable construction safety training.

· Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills.

Security Requirements

· Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance.

· Must meet applicable DND and CFB Suffield site-access requirements.

Working Conditions

· Work performed on-site at CFB Suffield and associated DND facilities.

· Normal project schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM, unless otherwise directed.

· Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

· Physical activities include standing, bending, reaching, lifting and working on ladders or scaffolding.

· Availability on short notice for project call-ups may be required.
