We’re hiring full-time Food Service Supervisors to join the passionate and celebrated SMU Dining Services team at Saint Mary's University in Halifax!

longside a manager who will help coordinate and lead operations, you’ll help oversee staff, collaborate with teammates, and help where needed. Supervise the day-to-day operations for the food service and operations on the floor
Supervise and direct food production planning, waste management and record keeping
Proactively manage food and labour cost controls
Assist with recruitment, training, staff orientation, scheduling and filling shifts as needed
Assist Manager with managing team performance
Supervise cash handling procedures, balance cash float, safe and verify deposits
Ensure food safety standards and HACCP are always followed
Resolve customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the Manager as necessary
Follow the Operational Excellence fundamentals by maintaining food and labor initiatives
Maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients, customers and employees
Follow all policies, rules and regulations relating to safety, health, wage and hour

- Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards considered an asset
- Strong organizational and team building skills with the ability to coach and motivate team members
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Flexible schedule as some evening,



weekend, and/or holiday work may be required

This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00.
