About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a gentleman living in assisted living in Burlington who needs additional companionship and supervision support. He's a kind, sweet person who is always willing to accept help. He uses a walker for mobility but sometimes forgets to bring it with him when he likes to walk, which creates safety concerns. He has dementia and can become confused about his walker's purpose and where he lives. He may wander into hallways without his mobility aid. Despite these challenges, he's independent with personal care, meals, and medications. He has a bed sore on his upper back that receives nursing care three times weekly through Ontario Health at Home. He participates in activities at his residence including exercise classes, games, and enjoys pet therapy sessions.

Responsibilities:

- Provide companionship and supervision to ensure safety during activities
- Accompany him on walks while ensuring he uses his walker properly
- Redirect him back to his room when needed
- Walk with him to the lounge area for activities and pet therapy sessions
- Take him to the courtyard on nice days
- Monitor for wandering and fall risks
- Provide gentle reminders about using his walker
- Engage him in conversation and activities to reduce agitation
- Help him feel comfortable and calm in his environment

What We're Looking For:

- Experience supporting clients who use walkers or other mobility aids
- Robust skills in cognitive supervision and dementia care
- Patience and a calm,



positive demeanor
- Ability to provide gentle redirection without causing distress
- Excellent communication with family members
- Reliability and consistency
- Comfortable working in assisted living settings

Schedule:

Monday through Sunday: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Friday and Saturday afternoons: 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM

This is a temporary arrangement expected to last approximately two to three months while awaiting long-term care placement. The family is exploring options and comparing agencies to find the right fit. They value caregivers who make their father feel comfortable, bring positive energy, and communicate clearly with the family.
