POSITION OVERVIEW:The Globe and Mail is seeking a Regina-based reporter to join our national news team. As an agricultural powerhouse and a hub for energy and mining, Saskatchewan is a pillar of the Canadian economy, and sits at the centre of some of the country's most consequential issues, from climate policy and Indigenous rights to the West's relationship with Ottawa and the U.S. trade war. This is an opportunity for a driven and ambitious journalist who wants to help Canadians understand the forces shaping Saskatchewanians and the wider impact on the country. We are looking for a reporter with a demonstrated ability to break news, produce transparent and compelling original pieces and develop high-impact coverage. Curiosity, versatility and collaboration are a must. The successful candidate will work with reporters in our bureaus across the country on business, politics and national news stories.RESPONSIBILITIES:Frequently pitch fresh,



compelling story ideasDevelop sources to break news and produce exclusive storiesWrite clearly and on deadlineWork with colleagues across the department and wider newsroom to brainstorm story ideas as well as the best way to tell themThink beyond standard storytelling formats and participate in Globe subscriber eventsQUALIFICATIONS:At least five years experience reporting for a news organizationInterest and experience covering politics and businessFlair for telling stories in Saskatchewan that will resonate beyond the provinceStrong writing with versatile range - from hard news to human-interest feature to explanatorySolid news judgment with a track record of enterprise workComfortable working in a variety of formats, including live blogs, newsletters, video and audioThis position is fully remote, based in Regina. Candidates must be able to travel regularly on assignment.SALARY:This position is classified as a Reporter in Group C of the Editorial Collective Agreement.
