Please note this is a Relief School Crossing Guard position The School Crossing Guard will assist and supervise school-age children with crossing roads in various locations of the municipality in a protected and professional manner.

Meet your department...

We keep Kingston moving safely and efficiently. Our team manages traffic signals and intersections, installs signage and pedestrian crossings, and responds to public safety concerns. We also analyze traffic data, implement calming measures, and develop policies that support active transportation and a connected, sustainable network.

What you'll do...

- Remain aware of traffic situations
- Display crossing sign and use caution while guiding children and families safely across roadways
- Ensure the safety of children crossing streets and intersections
- Maintain a pleasant, courteous and helpful attitude toward children, their guardians and the general public
- Model and reinforce proper behaviour and adherence to safety rules
- Report dangerous driving, crossing practices or issues to the appropriate authorities
