Join the City of Burnaby as a Building Plan Checker 1. Ensure compliance with BC Building Code and municipal regulations through plan examination and permit issuance.

This temporary full time position requires technical and clerical expertise in checking building plans for single and two-family dwellings. You will examine construction plans, prepare building permits, maintain records, and communicate with contractors and the public. Additionally, you will support municipal staff with building inspections and handle special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
• Examine building plans for compliance with regulations
• Issue building permits once standards are met
• Maintain records and file submitted plans




• Answer inquiries from contractors and public
• Assist inspectors and engage in special projects

Requirements:
• Diploma in Building Technology from an Institute of Technology
• Experience in construction or municipal work
• Knowledge of BC Building Code and municipal bylaws
• Ability to interpret construction plans accurately
• Valid Driver’s License for British Columbia
