About the Opportunity We're seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to join a growing engineering organization focused on modernizing lending technology. This individual will provide technical leadership for a pod of 5-6 engineers while remaining actively involved in software development, architecture, and solution design.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys mentoring others, solving complex technical problems, and driving the delivery of highly scalable applications.
Responsibilities Lead a pod of 5-6 software engineers focused on lending technology initiatives.

Act as the technical authority for the team, guiding architecture and design decisions.

Design, develop, and support RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.

Conduct code reviews and mentor developers on engineering best practices.

Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions.

Promote high-quality engineering practices including TDD, automated testing, and continuous delivery.

Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and technical discovery sessions.

Drive continuous improvement across development processes and team effectiveness.

Required Qualifications 7+ years of software engineering experience.

5+ years of hands-on Java and Spring Boot development experience.

Experience leading projects or providing technical leadership within Agile teams.

Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

Experience working with Git and modern software development tools.

Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.





Experience with TDD and automated testing frameworks.

Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Nice to Have Experience within fintech, lending, payments, or digital financial services.

Knowledge of small business banking or lending platforms.

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience.

Exposure to AI-enabled software development tools and practices.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Toronto, ON.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $110.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
