Senior Business Analyst, Product Data Management
Emmerson Packaging is a third-generation family-owned company. We are an industry leader in flexible packaging solutions, and we love what we do! We pride ourselves on meeting and exceeding the highest quality standards in everything we do, including adding talented people to our team! This passion and pride have won us the distinction of being named one of Canada’s Best Managed companies for 17 years running.
This is a full-time, temporary position (salaried 1-year term, with renewal anticipated through go-live and hypercare).
Our Values say it best: We enhance our lives by helping others succeed
We care about our clients, each other, and our communities
We are responsible for the outcome of our actions
We strive to do the right thing, even if it costs us
JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Business Analyst, Product Data Management owns product and master data design for our S/4HANA program: how Emmerson Packaging defines, structures, governs and converts the data behind every film, bag and roll we make. Clean product data is the foundation for costing, planning, quality and pricing, and this role makes sure it is right on Day 1. A core goal is moving from decentralized data ownership to a centralized, standardized governance model.
Emmerson Packaging is moving from SAP ECC 6.0 to S/4HANA through a RISE with SAP Brownfield system conversion, and we are hiring experienced business analysts to help lead the design. The program is run by our Program Management Office (PMO) and is the company’s primary strategic initiative. Phase 0 discovery with our systems integrator partners runs through December 2026, followed by Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy and Run. You will shape a Day 1 design for a real manufacturing business, work directly with business process owners in 24 departments, and have visible impact on how the company runs for the next decade.
POSITION DETAILS: Reports to: ERP Program Manager and PMO Lead
Team: S/4HANA implementation team within the PMO, working with business process owners, SMEs and systems integrator consultants
Location: Hybrid, Atlantic Canada or Ontario, with travel to our Amherst, NS and Belleville, ON plants
Travel: Up to 25%, heavier during workshops, testing and cutover
JOB TASKS: Leads fit-to-standard workshops for product master data across sales, purchasing, production,

quality, costing and plant maintenance views
Designs the material master in S/4HANA: material types, units of measure and conversions, classification and characteristics, and batch management
Owns our existing variant configuration (LO-VC) models through conversion: configurable materials, characteristics and classes, dependencies, variant tables, configuration profiles, super BOMs and routings, and variant pricing. Validates them in S/4HANA, cleans up obsolete logic, and assesses the business case and timing for moving to Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC)
Owns our SAP Document Management (DMS) through conversion: document types, document info records, object links to materials and BOMs, versioning, status workflow and content storage, including specs, print artwork, drawings and certificates
Defines bills of materials, routings/master recipes, work centers and production versions with Production Planning and Quality leads
Leads customer/vendor integration (CVI) to Business Partner: pre-conversion cleansing, number ranges, BP roles and groupings, and post-conversion validation
Builds and leads a centralized master data governance model: explicit ownership, data and naming standards, create/change workflows and quality checks in standard S/4HANA, to de-risk data before conversion and keep it clean after
Leads master data conversion readiness: profiling, cleansing, deduplication and archiving of obsolete records before conversion, with reconciliation and sign-off by data owners
Resolves known data issues, such as footage-to-weight conversions for film products, as Day 1 design requirements
Writes functional specifications for data-related reports, interfaces and validations
Supports mock conversions, testing and cutover, and transitions data governance into steady-state operation under the PMO’s Data Governance function, with business teams owning and maintaining their data
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Abides by all Emmerson Packaging’s Management System policies, follows procedures, work instructions and other requirements including adherence to EH&S; Act regulations.
Obligation to take any necessary steps/actions to continue adherence to the Management System (quality and environmental). If the necessary steps are outside assigned authority, there is an obligation to bring the issue to their supervisor.
COMPETENCIES: Must be detail-oriented and structured in managing large volumes of data, and able to influence plant, sales and other business teams to take ownership of the quality and accuracy of the data they create and maintain
Must have a working knowledge of how master data drives MM, PP, QM, SD and CO, especially in discrete or process manufacturing
Must be familiar with SAP S4 Methodology, fit-to-standard and clean-core principles
REQUIREMENTS: 7+ years in SAP master data as a business analyst, data lead or functional consultant, with at least one full-lifecycle S/4HANA implementation
Hands-on Brownfield conversion experience: simplification item checks, CVI/Business Partner conversion and pre-conversion data cleansing
Deep knowledge of the material master, classification, batch management and Business Partner in S/4HANA
Experience setting up data governance: roles, standards, quality metrics and approval workflows, ideally moving an organization from decentralized to centralized ownership
Strong Excel and SQL skills for data profiling and reconciliation
Degree in business, engineering, supply chain or information systems, or equivalent experience
PREFERRED: Hands-on SAP variant configuration experience (LO-VC or AVC), including dependencies, variant tables, configurable BOMs and variant pricing, ideally in make-to-order manufacturing
Experience with SAP Document Management (DMS): document info records, object links to materials and BOMs, versioning and status management
LO-VC to AVC conversion experience
Experience in packaging, plastics, printing, converting or process manufacturing
RISE with SAP / private cloud experience
What’s in it for YOU? A lead role on a company-defining S/4HANA program, with direct access to executive sponsorship
A collaborative PMO team with deep ECC and change management experience
