About the Role Our client, a key operator in the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a skilled Senior Production Technologist to enhance upstream production processes in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This role focuses on optimizing the performance of wells and production facilities to ensure efficient and safe hydrocarbon extraction. You will be responsible for analyzing production data, identifying operational issues, and developing technical solutions to improve recovery and reduce operational costs. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in production engineering, artificial lift systems, and surface facility operations. You will work collaboratively with field operations teams, reservoir engineers, and management to implement best practices and drive operational excellence. This is a critical hands‑on role contributing directly to the company's production targets and asset integrity in the Northern Cape region.
Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyze well and facility production data to identify performance trends and issues.
Develop and implement strategies for production optimization and troubleshooting.
Specify, design, and manage artificial lift systems (e.g., ESPs, rod pumps, gas lift).
Oversee the integrity and performance of surface production facilities.
Conduct production system modeling and analysis to maximize recovery factors.
Provide technical support to field operations personnel.




Collaborate with reservoir engineers on field development and production planning.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and operational procedures.
Stay current with new production technologies and industry best practices.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in upstream oil and gas production operations or technology.
Robust expertise in artificial lift systems and production facility operations.
Proficiency in production system analysis software and data analysis tools.
Understanding of wellbore hydraulics, fluid flow, and thermodynamics.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a field-based operational environment.
Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Experience in the South African Oil & Gas industry is a plus.
Must possess legal working rights in South Africa.
