Job Summary

ACM Designer – Architectural Cladding

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented ACM Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) cladding systems and preparing accurate shop drawings, panel layouts, fabrication details, and installation drawings for residential and commercial exterior projects.

In this role, you will work closely with our project managers, estimators, fabrication team, and installers to transform architectural drawings and site measurements into practical, accurate ACM designs ready for fabrication and installation.

Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed ACM shop drawings, panel layouts, elevations, sections, and installation details.
- Develop panel dimensions, joint locations, reveals, returns, corners, trims, flashings, and other cladding details.
- Review architectural drawings, elevations, specifications, and site measurements to develop accurate ACM layouts.
- Prepare drawings and information required for ACM fabrication and CNC/router cutting.
- Calculate panel sizes and material requirements while considering efficient sheet utilization and minimizing waste.
- Coordinate ACM details with windows, doors, soffits, parapets, roofing, siding, waterproofing, and other exterior finishes.
- Revise shop drawings based on architect, consultant, client, or project manager comments.
- Identify potential conflicts or constructability issues before fabrication and installation.
- Communicate with fabrication and installation teams to ensure drawings can be executed accurately in the field.




- Maintain organized drawing sets and revisions throughout each project.

Qualifications & Experience

- Previous experience with ACM / aluminum composite panel design, drafting, fabrication, or exterior cladding systems is strongly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
- Experience with Revit, SketchUp, SolidWorks, or other 3D/CAD software is an asset.
- Strong understanding of architectural elevations, sections, details, and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of ACM panel systems, sub-framing, attachment methods, waterproofing, flashing, and exterior envelope details is highly desirable.
- Ability to convert architectural drawings and field measurements into accurate fabrication-ready shop drawings.
- Understanding of panel optimization, material takeoffs, and fabrication limitations is an asset.
- Construction or field experience with exterior cladding is highly valued.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who understands that ACM design is not simply drafting. The designer must consider how each panel will be fabricated, assembled, waterproofed, and installed on site.
