We are looking to hire a hands-on Accounts Payable Supervisor / Manager to lead a centralized AP function in a fast-changing setting — combining accurate execution, team leadership, financial analysis, stakeholder support, and practical modernization. You will protect a high-stakes payment cycle while improving how the function works.
What you'll bring
- Supervise, coach, and prioritize the work of a small team of two to three accounting team members, reviewing work quality and building consistent AP practices.
- Serve as the point of contact for branches, vendors, and internal stakeholders on payment questions, responding with professionalism and urgency.
- Support branches by explaining payment requirements, approvals, and discrepancies in explicit, practical language.
- Partner with Finance, Treasury, branch operations, and other internal teams to resolve issues and keep payment workflows moving.
- Analyze AP data and recurring exceptions to identify root causes, control gaps, and bottlenecks, and improve accuracy and cycle time.
- Modernize AP processes through stronger procedures, clearer ownership, improved reporting, and practical workflow automation.
- Evaluate automation and AI tools that reduce manual work and strengthen validation, while maintaining human review and financial controls.
- Build reporting on payment status, exceptions, aging items,
and vendor and branch inquiries — and help the team adapt as needs, systems, and priorities evolve.
- Progressive AP experience, including ownership of complex or high-volume payment processes.
- Strong knowledge of AP controls, invoice validation, PO matching, approval workflows, reconciliations, payment processing, and vendor management.
- Strong analytical ability: validate numbers, spot inconsistencies, investigate root causes, and turn findings into action.
- Experience improving AP processes or implementing workflow, reporting, ERP, automation, or AI-enabled tools is a strong asset.
- Clear communication — able to explain financial information simply to branch teams, vendors, and junior staff.
- Direct supervisory or team-lead experience in accounts payable.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, judgment, and follow-through, especially around deadlines and high-value payments.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
- A learning mindset and comfort working in an environment where priorities and processes continue to evolve.
