Company Description Musée is an online art community that connects artists, writers, and art enthusiasts around the world. The platform highlights diverse perspectives on visual arts, from emerging Art Writer (Freelance, Remote) Musée · Part-Time
About Musée Musée (musee.online) is a social platform where artists share their work, build a following, and sell straight to collectors. We started it because good art gets lost in feeds that weren't built for it. On Musée, artists keep ownership, collectors buy from them directly, and every piece gets room to be seen.
The role We're looking for an Art Writer to help people see the work on Musée. You'll write about our artists and their pieces in a way that makes a stranger stop scrolling, and makes a collector want to know more. You'll work closely with the founding team, and your writing will shape how Musée sounds.
What you'll do
- Write artist features and profiles: interviews, studio stories, and the ideas behind a body of work
- Write artwork descriptions for listings: medium, process, and what the piece is about, without the jargon
- Write captions for Musée's Instagram posts and carousels (@museeonline)
- Write editorial pieces for our newsletter and blog, such as themed collections, emerging-artist roundups, and short essays on movements, materials, and the art market
- Help define Musée's editorial voice and a simple style guide that others can follow
About you
- You write clearly and with warmth about visual art. You can describe a painting so that someone who hasn't seen it wants to
- You know art history and contemporary practice, and you're curious about artists working outside the big-gallery system
- You can switch between a 1,000-word feature and a 150-character caption
- You meet deadlines and take edits well
- Bonus: a background in art history, fine art, criticism, or journalism; experience interviewing artists; an eye for photography and layout. Art Students are also welcome.
Why Musée
- Your byline on work read by artists and collectors
- A direct line to the founders and real say over the editorial direction
- Flexible, work from home on your own schedule
- Early access to new artists, and a front-row seat as the platform grows
How to apply Email
[email protected] with the subject line "Art Writer – [Your Name]" , or DM us on Instagram at @museeonline . Send either:
- A cover letter on why Musée and which artist (living or not) you'd most like to write about, or
- Two or three writing samples , ideally about visual art
Let us know your rate, or the pay you expect.
- Musée welcomes applicants of all backgrounds, and we're especially interested in voices the art world hasn't always heard.
