Lutheran Early Learning Centres is looking to fill casual substitute educator roles in our Hague location. Substitute educators are contacted when regularly scheduled staff are ill or taking time off to ensure we are meeting our required ratios. They support the team by working with the staff to maintain high quality care is still provided.

All applicants must provide a criminal record check prior to beginning work. Subs who display positive qualities as an ECE may be eligible for full-time work if and when roles become vacant.

Responsibilities

- Facilitate engaging educational activities that promote learning and development among children.
- Use of emergent curriculum, Child led project approach, process over product style educational styles in developmentally appropriate ways.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment that reflects the needs and development of children enrolled.
- Aid in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
- supervision of children in partnership with other staff/ practice active supervision and quality engagements with children in the program.
- Follow children’s lead and take active, supportive roles in their play by observing, expanding on their interests, documenting, and engaging with children on their level to actively participate with them.
- Spending time outdoors with children daily.
- maintain positive partnership and communication with other staff, families, and children, Including maintaining confidentiality with regards to all sensitive information.




- reliably and punctually be at work and ready to greet children, staff, and families in a professional manner.
- Cleaning, laundry, safe handling of chemical cleaners such as bleach, Lysol, etc. in an early learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and special events.
- Follow protocol for keeping child/staff ratios, fire drills, etc.

Skills
- ECE certification of any level is a plus.
- Understanding of Childcare regulations, Childcare act, licensing regulations, and LELC employee handbook (reviewed upon hiring).
- Experience working with children is benificial.
- Programming and documentation skills.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, and coworkers.
- Communicate with Families via ProCare app
- Ability to work collaboratively and patiently as part of a team.
- punctuality and reliability
- CPR/ First aid is an asset
- ability to handle working in a quick paced, high energy environment.
- Ability to work in an environment that is inclusive for children with varying abilities and backgrounds.
- Ability to allow children to explore, learn through experience and take the lead.
- Engage in and actively supervise risky and messy play.
