Help small businesses get up and running on Booky. You'll sit between our clients and our development team: learning how a business works, turning what they need into clear specs, testing the result, and training them to succeed with it. It's a hands-on year in business analysis, QA and client onboarding, on a small team where your work matters.
About Booky
Booky is a Thunder Bay-based, all-in-one scheduling, staffing and integrated payments platform built for small businesses. Online booking, point-of-sale, inventory, SMS reminders and staff scheduling live in one intuitive system.
We pair the personal touch of a local partner with enterprise-grade AI. Our AI-ready framework lets us add new capabilities or custom data points quickly and safely, so the software adapts to each business's rules, not the other way around. Our goal: help the region's small businesses outpace distant corporations through better, more personal service.
What you'll do
- Business analysis: Work with new clients to map their workflows, document operational bottlenecks and identify technical requirements.
- Spec writing: Translate non-technical client feedback into explicit user stories and functional feature specs for the development team.
- Prototyping: Combine your technical skills and understanding of client needs to build prototype designs of new features, so developers can move quickly.
- Implementation management: Own the end-to-end onboarding timeline for new clients and keep key integration milestones on schedule.
- Quality assurance: Design structured test plans, including edge cases, and run User Acceptance Testing (UAT) before each client handoff.
- Client training: Deliver interactive 1-on-1 and group training sessions that drive adoption and reduce post-launch support requests.
- Knowledge base: Write and update help documentation with client use cases, new features and practical tips.
- Product feedback loop: Turn post-launch feedback and issues into clear,
structured tasks for the development team.
- Agile collaboration: Join sprint ceremonies and act as the internal liaison between client needs and the product and development team.
What you'll gain
- Hands-on experience with Agile product development and sprint workflows
- Real-world requirements gathering and business analysis with live clients
- Test design and User Acceptance Testing on production software
- Experience guiding businesses through software adoption, from kickoff to go-live
- Exposure to AI-enabled product development on a modern SaaS platform
- Mentorship from a small team where your work has visible impact
You'll do well here if you have:
- A recent diploma or degree in computer science, software development, business/information systems or a related field
- Comfort with technology and a working understanding of how software is built
- Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical ideas to non-technical people
- A detail-oriented, organized approach to managing timelines and tasks
- Curiosity about how businesses run and a genuine interest in helping owners succeed
- Comfort working directly with clients, in person and online
Nice to have:
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum, user stories or a tool like Jira or Linear
- Experience with software testing or QA
- Familiarity with design or prototyping tools (e.g., Figma) or AI-assisted development tools
- Customer service, training or small-business experience
Don't tick every box? Apply anyway. We care most about curiosity, communication and a willingness to learn.
