This is a great opportunity for an experienced Corporate Accountant with 5+ years of hands-on, full-cycle accounting experience who enjoys variety, ownership and being closely involved in the accounting function. Join a supportive, CPA-led team within a growing real estate investment group, with broad exposure to complex accounting and the opportunity to help improve processes as the business evolves.

Who- the Company:

The company has a significant real estate investment portfolio and a growing business, supported by a lean, CPA-led finance team. It offers a collaborative environment where employees can build strong working relationships and contribute to the continued evolution of the business.

What- the Role:

We are looking for a Corporate Accountant with 5+ years of hands-on, full-cycle accounting experience to join a privately owned group with a significant real estate investment portfolio and a lean, CPA-led finance team. Their processes are still evolving after their 2025 Certinia conversion, so they value people who ask good questions and help build structure. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and brings a “can-do” attitude to every task.

They take initiative to support accurate and timely reporting, adapt easily to changing priorities, and enjoy learning within a supportive environment.

This role is ideal for someone who values teamwork, discretion and long-term relationships, and the opportunity to gain broad exposure to complex accounting in a agile and growing business.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform hands-on, full-cycle accounting for the company and related entities in accordance with ASPE and internal controls.
- Maintain a complete and well-organized audit trail, with source documents filed promptly in the shared drive.

- Independently lead month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including preparing and posting journal entries, completing account reconciliations (e.g., intercompany and shareholder), maintaining supporting schedules, preparing period-end adjustments and trial balances for managers; ensure data accuracy, reviewing bookkeeping in detail, and address management inquiries as needed.
- Apply critical thinking when reviewing financial data to identify discrepancies and risks, ask appropriate questions, determine when additional analysis is required, and propose solutions to support accurate reporting while balancing the need to meet accounting deadlines.
- Prepare and file GST returns and assist with tax slip filings.
- Assist with audit preparation and coordination with external accountants as needed.
- Collaborate with and support other members in the finance team.
- Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements, management reports and the Financial Reporting package.
- Support variance analysis and other ad hoc financial analyses as required, and build exposure to complex accounting such as equity accounting, multi-currency, loans and financing covenants.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting processes.
- Support the integration and maintenance of financial systems such as Certinia and Salesforce.

- Reporting directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and working with the VP of Finance as needed.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects as assigned by the Senior Accounting Manager or VP of Finance.

Who – the Candidate:

- Must possess high discretion and always maintain confidentiality. Required to sign and comply with Non-Disclosure and confidentiality agreements (NDA).
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, full-cycle accounting experience, including 2+ years independently leading month-end and year-end close; public accounting experience is an asset.
- Experience with multicurrency and/or multicompany transactions and real estate accounting are preferred.
- Strong understanding of ASPE and conceptual grasp of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Experience with GST filings and T5 slip preparation is an asset.
- Proficiency in Excel, including analysis and data manipulation, and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems (Certinia/FinancialForce and Salesforce experience an asset).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with strong time management skills, sound accounting judgment, and the ability to learn and apply current knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; able to collaborate effectively with team members at all levels.
