The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS), University of Manitoba (UM) invites applications for a Canada Research Chair Tier 1 clinician-scientist in Pediatric Translational Research and Clinical Outcomes.
The Canadian Research Chair (CRC) program was established by the government of Canada to enable Canadian universities foster research excellence. Tier 1 Chairs are valued at $200,000 per year for 7 years with an option to renew once. With this Chair, the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences intends to build on the University of Manitoba strategic priority to build capacity for clinician-scientists in translational Child Health research and contribute towards the University's effort in meeting and sustaining its current equity and diversity targets.
In response, the RFHS has strategically developed the following call for a Tier 1 CRC in Pediatric Translational Research and Clinical Outcomes to be housed within the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health.
Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Pediatric Translational Research and Clinical Outcomes, will be appointed as a Geographical Full-time at the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor within the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, Max Rady College of Medicine at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences University of Manitoba. The salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, but it is expected that the successful candidate will attain the rank of Professor within two years.
Established in 1920, the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health has a strong tradition of service to Manitoba, providing care, training future pediatricians and researching children's medicine to improve patient outcomes. The Department of Pediatrics and Child Health is based at Health Sciences Center (HSC)-Winnipeg Children's Hospital, and serves the infants, children and adolescents of Manitoba, Nunavut, and Northwestern Ontario. Our focus is on providing equitable health care to the children that we serve, including First Nations, Red River Métis and Inuit peoples.
We are an academic pediatric hospital affiliated with the Rady College of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, and Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM). As an active pediatric research facility, our researchers receive national and international support to address the important health issues faced by children and adolescents. Our research training programs ensure that future researchers receive the support and education to continue solving Manitoba's pediatric health problems.
CHRIM is the research division of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. At the Institute, more than 300 world-class pediatric medical researchers, technical staff, students, and support staff are involved in nearly $22 million of research and clinical trial activity each year. CHRIM is the first research facility dedicated exclusively to pediatric research in the prairie provinces.
CHRIM brings together top researchers from a variety of health disciplines who share a common goal of improving the health of children and youth. By including a wide range of disciplines, CHRIM has the unique ability to look at the overall picture of pediatric health – not just one area. The Institute fosters a cooperative and innovative research environment, offering hope to children and their families as researchers work towards medical breakthroughs and cures for childhood illness.
