Summary Description

Under the direction of the Executive Chef, the Dining Room Supervisor oversees all aspects of the dining room operation, including training, setup, service, breakdown, cleanliness, equipment, furnishings, and communication.

The Dining Room

Supervisor coordinates with kitchen staff to maintain smooth, productive and pleasant service. This is a “hands-on “role and you will work alongside the team to identify problems and resolve them quickly.

Supervisor will document staff and community members’ concerns and keep the Executive Chef/General Manager apprised of Dining Room issues. The director is expected to develop relationships with all clients; residents, guests, family and community partners and to be passionately committed to fostering a culture of superior customer service.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Greeting community members/guests and seating them according to the seating time chart. Ensure there is a clear pathway for the servers and community members to walk through the dining room. Assigns guest reservations to specific tables.
2. Conduct frequent table checks after/during service to ensure community members are satisfied. Report all feedback to the Executive Chef for follow-up and documentation.
3. Advise the team when a new community member moves in, and ensure the team is always aware of any dietary needs or adjustments for new and current community members
4. Monitor community members’ overall well-being, interactions and capabilities to ensure they are enjoying their dining experience.
5. Report any unusual incidents and concerns to the Executive Chef, or the nurse in charge in the Executive Chef’s absence.
6. Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and performance management. Supervises a team of 6-8 team members during the shift.
7. Follow all safety guidelines and utilize urgency protocols immediately (i.e.



Call bells in urgent situations)
8. Ensure compliance with resident dress code protocol in the dining room. Report any inappropriate attire (hats, nightgowns, housecoats, etc.) to the Executive Chef and care staff.
9. Complete the meal attendance sheet as required.
10. Monitors food presentation and relays compliments, concerns and complaints from the residents regarding the quality of service. Relay feedback to kitchen team to find solutions.
11. Must be available to work varying schedules, including events, weekends, holidays and overtime in order to reflect the business needs of the department.
12. Ensure seamless operations of the dining room, and bistro areas.
13. Assist during special events as directed by the Executive Chef.
14. Assist the Executive Chef in ensuring we are continually elevating the dining room experience to service excellence. Proactively assists servers wherever possible.
15. Ensure all daily audit checklists are completed and signed off.
16. Conducting monthly audits/inventory of smallware’s.
17. Participates in menu development and review in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
18. Completes the daily shift report regarding community member tracking, team member tracking, food concerns and required maintenance requests.
19. Performs other duties as required by the Executive Chef.

Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

1. Completion of Grade XII education or better with several years’ experience in the hospitality industry.
2. Must have above average interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in all scenarios.
3. Food handler Certification is required.
4. Serve Pro Certification is required

Pay: $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week
