Haisan is an intimate fine-dining destination in East Vancouver rooted in Pacific Northwest ingredients and Chinese culinary traditions. As our dishwasher and kitchen steward, you play a critical role in keeping our service running smoothly and our workspace immaculate.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable, attentive, and team-oriented Dishwasher / Kitchen Steward to join our back-of-house team. This role handles the care and sanitization of high-end kitchenware, delicate service glassware, and handcrafted custom ceramic dinnerware.

Key Responsibilities

- Wash, sanitize, and carefully organize dinnerware, delicate glassware, flatware, and kitchen cookware.
- Handle artisanal and handcrafted ceramics with care and attention to detail.
- Operate and maintain commercial dishwashing equipment, adhering strictly to chemical handling and sanitation standards.
- Keep dishwashing, dish pit, and prep stations clean, dry, and clutter-free throughout prep and service.
- Assist with basic kitchen closing procedures, including trash/recycling removal, sweeping, mopping, and surface sanitization.
- Support cooks with receiving, organizing stock, or light prep tasks when time permits.

- Reliability & Work Ethic: Punctual, organized, and calm under high-standard dinner services.
- Care for Materials: A steady hand and pride in handling delicate tableware and specialty ceramics.
- Physical Stamina: Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40–50 lbs.
- Team Mindset: Receptive to communication, eager to support teammates, and proactive during quiet moments.
- Experience & Assets: Prior experience in a high-volume or fine-dining kitchen is an asset, but we are willing to train candidates with the right attitude. Valid BC Food Safe Level 1 is a plus.
- Availability: Flexible evening and weekend availability.
