A major Canadian energy producer is looking for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Construction Coordinator for a large brownfield capital project at an operating oil sands facility. You'll lead E&I; field execution and coordination, turning approved plans into safe, constructible, and predictable work across construction, engineering, operations, maintenance, turnaround, and commissioning teams.
What you'll do
- Make sure assigned E&I; work areas are execution-ready: engineering, materials, cable, access, scaffolding, permits, isolations, and vendor support.
- Coordinate daily E&I; activities between contractors, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Commissioning, and RFO.
- Identify and resolve constraints affecting safety, quality, productivity, schedule, or workfront availability.
- Plan brownfield tie-ins, electrical outages, isolations, energization, and DCS/SIS/PLC cutovers within active operating units.
- Develop TA-dependent E&I; scopes, and move work outside turnaround windows where it's safe to do so.
- Take part in constructability reviews, model reviews, and field walkdowns, and give construction input to Engineering.
- Support AWP, CWP/IWP, Path of Construction, and Integrated Readiness processes.
- Monitor contractor performance, and escalate risks and execution issues.
- Support testing,
loop checks, calibration, punch-list closure, system turnover, commissioning, and handover to Operations.
What you bring
- 15+ years of construction experience in oil sands, oil and gas, mining, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial settings.
- 10+ years of E&I; construction or coordination experience in active brownfield operating facilities.
- Solid working knowledge of both electrical and instrumentation/controls construction.
- Hands-on experience with major turnaround planning and execution.
- Experience with brownfield tie-ins, isolations, energization, control-system cutovers, and commissioning.
- Experience with AWP, CWP/IWP, and constraint management.
- An electrical or instrumentation trade certification, technical diploma, or engineering technology background is preferred.
Assets
- Prior experience on projects for a major oil sands operator.
- Brownfield execution experience in an operating oil sands facility.
- Experience with digital construction and readiness platforms such as O3 Solutions.
- Current safety tickets (H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, CSTS).
Schedule and logistics
- 8 days on, 6 days off rotation (Wednesday start), 12-hour shifts with 11.5 hours paid.
