The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $260 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, administrators, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.

The Greater Victoria School District is currently seeking applications for an Equipment Operator with the following qualifications:

- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Must possess a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment related to grounds.
- Demonstrated knowledge of grounds and landscaping maintenance practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of job-related safety regulations and techniques as outlined in WCB’s Industrial Health and Safety Regulations and keeps in mind safety of others, including school children. Perform duties in compliance with safety regulations.
- Digital technology; including email, online databases and facilities management software used by School District #61
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with other workers, suppliers,



administrators, supervisors, teaching staff, students and the public
- Sufficient sight and hearing to perform related job duties. Able to lift up to 20kg and carry supplies and equipment required to perform his/her duties in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Able to perform related physical and mental activities. Able to work in a highly active physical workplace.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions

This temporary position falls within the CUPE 382 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $29.64 per hour plus 11% in lieu of benefits until April 23rd, 2027 or return of the incumbent.
