Lead Hand Glazier

Founded in 1988, Acara Glass & Aluminum is a full-service glass and aluminum company specializing in the sales, service, and installation of commercial and residential glazing systems throughout Saskatchewan. We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Hand Glazier to join our team. This is an excellent chance for a skilled glazier who takes pride in their work and is ready to lead a crew on commercial and residential glass and aluminum projects.

The successful candidate will lead installation crews on site, coordinate daily work, and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to Acara’s high standard of quality. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior glaziers and apprentices as they develop their skills in the trade.

Responsibilities include:

- Leading and supervising installation crews on commercial and residential job sites
- Planning and assigning daily tasks to crew members
- Overseeing and performing the fabrication and installation of:
- Commercial storefronts
- Curtain wall systems
- Window systems
- Sealed units and mirrors
- Glass partitions
- Glass railings
- Aluminum doors and frames
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
- Taking accurate site measurements and performing layout
- Coordinating with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades
- Ensuring work meets quality standards and project requirements
- Training and mentoring junior glaziers, apprentices, and assistants
- Enforcing company and job-site safety procedures and leading by example
- Ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are available and properly maintained




- Communicating project progress, issues, and material needs to management
- Troubleshooting installation challenges and providing practical solutions

Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial and/or residential glazing
- Previous lead hand or crew supervisory experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of storefront, curtain wall, and window system installation
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to safety, with the ability to enforce safe work practices
- Comfortable working outdoors and at heights
- Fall protection, aerial work platform, and First Aid certifications are an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality workmanship
