We are looking for a mature, kind, reliable and responsible female live-in Supportive Roommate for a fairly independent adult woman with a developmental disability.

Although she is capable of doing many things independently, she benefits from reminders, encouragement, guidance and a little help with the practical aspects of everyday life.

This is a live-in position. The successful candidate will live in the home with her and will have a private bedroom and private bathroom. This is not an off-site or overnight-shift position.

Shared Living in a 2 bedroom condominium in Lake Bonavista SE Calgary

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who will be a positive and supportive presence in the home and who can help her maintain a healthy, secure and comfortable lifestyle.

Responsibilities may include

- Providing a supportive and reassuring presence in the home
- Helping with daily routines, reminders and organization
- Encouraging independence while providing assistance when needed
- Planning and preparing healthy, nutritious meals
- Working with the client and her PDD Support worker to achieve the goals as set out in her PDD plan.
- Encouraging healthier food choices and helping with grocery shopping and meal planning
- Helping maintain a clean, tidy and organized home environment
- Providing gentle encouragement and support around household organization and keeping possessions under control
- Reminding and encouraging her to attend important medical, dental and other appointments
- Helping her stay on top of everyday responsibilities and commitments
- Encouraging participation in social and community activities
- Helping her navigate everyday situations and function as independently as possible in the community




- Communicating with family and other members of her support network when appropriate
- Potentially assisting with medication-related responsibilities in the future, following appropriate PDD training and requirements

The role is primarily about encouragement, reminders and helping her stay on track. She is largely independent with her personal care and does not require intensive hands-on care. The right person will be

- Comfortable preparing healthy, home-cooked meals
- Supportive without being overbearing
- Able to encourage healthy habits and routines in a positive way
- Comfortable providing reminders and following through when something needs to get done
- Respectful of her independence, privacy and personal choices
- Able to establish healthy boundaries while developing a friendly and trusting relationship
- Comfortable communicating with family and other support providers
- Interested in helping someone live a happy, active and fulfilling life
- Able to converse fluently in English
- Legally authorized to work in Canada

Previous experience supporting someone with a developmental disability would be an asset, but the right personality and attitude are equally important. The successful candidate must be willing to complete any PDD-required training, which may include First Aid/CPR,



medication administration and other applicable training.

The Home & Location The home is located in Bonavista in SE Calgary.

The Supportive Roommate will have:

- A private bedroom
- A private bathroom
- A comfortable shared living environment
- Parking available

Police check with vulnerability sector search is required. Having a driver's licence and vehicle would be an advantage, although it is not a requirement for the position.

The Living Arrangement

This is a live-in supportive roommate position. The successful candidate is expected to make the home their residence and be present in the home overnight.

This position is well suited to someone who has daytime employment, studies, or other daytime commitments, as this is not a traditional full-time caregiving position.

PDD Supportive Roommate Position

This position is part of a PDD-supported living arrangement and will be subject to the applicable PDD/program requirements and standards of care.

Location: Bonavista, SE Calgary

Position: Female Live-In Supportive Roommate

Accommodation: Private bedroom and bathroom

Start Date: Ideally by December 1, 2026 but negotiable

Compensation: PDD-funded arrangement

Employment: Contract (Suitable for someone with daytime employment elsewhere or other daytime commitments). Applicant will be responsible for any CRA related filings.
