Join our dynamic team as a Kitchen and Front Counter Staff member at Di Patty Shop, a Jamaican restaurant in Guelph. Your energy and enthusiasm will help create a vibrant, welcoming workplace for our customers. You will be the friendly face at the front counter and a vital part of our kitchen, ensuring smooth food preparation, exceptional customer service and careful food handling.

This role is for someone who truly loves Jamaican food. You must be willing to cook it, eat it and enjoy it. Tasting our dishes is part of the job, and you will be expected to talk about the menu with real enthusiasm, from jerk chicken and curry goat to oxtail, rice and peas, and our famous patties.

Duties

- Greet customers warmly at the front counter, taking orders accurately and efficiently using our POS system.
- Cook, prepare and assemble Jamaican dishes according to our recipes and safety standards, maintaining high quality and presentation.
- Taste and enjoy our food regularly so you can check seasoning and quality, and recommend dishes with confidence.
- Handle cash transactions with precision, including processing payments and giving correct change.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering menu questions, explaining dishes to first time guests,



suggesting add ons and ensuring every guest leaves satisfied.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and front counter by following food safety protocols and sanitation standards.
- Manage your time well during busy periods to keep orders moving and wait times short.
- Assist with food storage, inventory and proper food handling procedures to uphold health regulations.

Experience

- A genuine love of Jamaican food and a willingness to cook, eat and enjoy it as part of your daily work. This is a must have.
- Previous food service or restaurant experience is highly preferred. Experience with Caribbean or Jamaican cooking is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, food handling safety and sanitation practices. Food Handler Certification is an asset.
- Experience with POS systems or similar cash register software.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks during high volume periods.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and the confidence to recommend menu items.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, accurate change and smooth transactions.
- Availability for evenings, weekends and holidays.
