We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Associate Lawyer specializing in civil sexual abuse and assault claims to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a lawyer who is passionate about access to justice, understands the sensitive nature of these cases, and is committed to advocating for survivors through the civil litigation process.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Civil Litigation Lawyer with 2-5 years of experience handling sexual abuse and sexual assault claims to join our growing practice. The successful candidate will be a strong advocate, an effective litigator, and a compassionate professional who understands the importance of providing trauma informed legal services to survivors.

Key Responsibilities

- Represent survivors in civil sexual abuse and sexual assault claims.
- Provide compassionate, trauma informed legal advice while maintaining professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
- Manage litigation files from intake through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, demand letters, settlement proposals, affidavits, applications, and other legal documents.
- Research and interpret relevant legislation, case law, and civil liability principles.
- Attend and conduct examinations for discovery, mediations, motions, and court proceedings.
- Develop litigation strategies and assess liability and damages.
- Work with medical professionals, witnesses, investigators, and other relevant parties to support client claims.
- Collaborate with law clerks, and other members of the firm to ensure efficient file management and high-quality client service.




- Stay current on developments in civil sexual abuse litigation and case law

Qualifications · Called to the Bar in Ontario with a valid license to practice law.

· Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.

· 2-5 years of civil litigation experience.

· Experience in sexual abuse, sexual assault, institutional abuse, historical abuse, personal injury, human rights, or other complex civil litigation matters.

· Strong legal research, drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills.

· Experience attending examinations for discovery, mediations, motions, and court appearances.

· Excellent organizational and file management skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team-oriented team.

Preferred

· Experience working with vulnerable or trauma affected clients.

· Trial experience or meaningful trial preparation experience.

· Understanding of institutional liability and damages assessment in abuse related claims.

Pay: $63,600.00-$200,000.00 per year
