Air Notions Inc. is a growing manufacturer of custom air handling units (AHUs) and make-up air units (MUAs) for commercial and industrial applications across Canada and the United States.

We specialize in designing and manufacturing engineered-to-order HVAC equipment to meet unique project requirements.

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering Designer to join our engineering team.

We welcome applications from both recent Mechanical Engineering graduates and experienced mechanical designers. The level of responsibility and compensation will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.

This position involves working directly with custom HVAC equipment, from reviewing project specifications and selecting components to preparing engineering drawings and supporting manufacturing.

The ideal candidate is technically inclined, detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop their knowledge of HVAC equipment and mechanical design.

Key Responsibilities

- Review project specifications, mechanical schedules, and equipment requirements.
- Design and configure custom air handling units and make-up air units based on project requirements.
- Perform airflow, heating, cooling, and other mechanical calculations to support equipment selection and design.
- Select HVAC components, including fans, heating and cooling coils, dampers, filters, and heat recovery devices.
- Prepare accurate 2D equipment drawings, layouts, and engineering submittals using AutoCAD.
- Coordinate mechanical equipment designs with electrical and controls requirements.
- Work with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are practical, accurate, and suitable for fabrication and assembly.
- Prepare and maintain equipment documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical specifications.
- Communicate with suppliers and internal teams to obtain technical information and resolve design questions.
- Assist with equipment testing, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.




- Manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team.
- Willingness to learn current technical concepts, equipment, and engineering processes.

Preferred Qualifications The following experience would be an asset but is not required:

- Experience designing air handling units (AHUs), make-up air units (MUAs), or other commercial/industrial HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of HVAC principles, airflow calculations, and equipment performance.
- Experience selecting fans, coils, dampers, and other HVAC components.
- Experience preparing mechanical equipment submittal drawings using AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with custom or engineered-to-order manufacturing.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and mechanical assembly processes.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
