Position Overview The Metal Finisher is responsible for completing all finishing operations after welding and fitting are completed. This role includes grinding, cleaning, polishing, light welding, packaging, tagging, quality control, and preparing products for shipment.

Responsibilities

- Grind and smooth welds using hand grinders and finishing tools.
- Clean, polish, and prepare metal components for painting, powder coating, galvanizing, or final delivery.
- Remove slag, burrs, sharp edges, and welding imperfections.
- Tag and label completed parts according to shop drawings and job requirements.
- Assist welders and fitters with shop-related tasks.
- Perform light welding and touch-up welding when required.
- Inspect completed products for quality and accuracy.
- Package finished products for shipment and delivery.
- Load and unload materials as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Complete other shop duties as assigned.

Skills / Qualifications





- Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding, or metal finishing.
- Experience using grinders, sanders, polishing tools, and hand tools.
- Basic MIG welding experience required.
- Ability to read shop drawings is an asset.
- Experience working with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel preferred.
- Physically capable of lifting to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Experience

- 2+ years of experience in a metal fabrication environment.
- Welding certification is an asset but not required.
- Forklift experience is an asset.
- Experience preparing products for painting or powder coating is an asset.
