ABOUT THE ROLE

Oakville Estates Retirement Residence is seeking a compassionate and professional Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team part time. In this role, you will provide day-to-day nursing care within your scope of practice, supporting residents’ health, well-being, dignity, and independence.

You will collaborate with the care team to deliver individualized care, monitor changes in residents’ health, and maintain accurate and confidential documentation.

Schedule: Days, Evening, Weekends shifts

Responsibilities

- Provide professional nursing care to residents within your scope of practice and in accordance with applicable professional standards and residence policies.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and monitor and document residents’ responses.
- Monitor residents’ health and vital signs, recognize changes in their condition, and promptly communicate concerns to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living while promoting their independence, comfort, and dignity.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential resident care records using the residence’s documentation systems.




- Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, families, and team members.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices and support a safe care environment.
- Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism in all interactions with residents.

Qualifications

- Current registration in good standing as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience in geriatric care, long-term care, or a retirement residence is an asset.
- Strong observation, communication, and clinical judgment skills.
- Ability to recognize changes in residents’ conditions and respond appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize care needs.
- Comfortable using electronic documentation systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
- A compassionate, patient, and resident-focused approach.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
