Psychotherapist – Children & Teens
Adult Referrals Also Available | Independent Contractor | Primarily In Person | Hintonburg and Carlington/Merivale
Anticipated start date: Flexible, with a preference for someone available to begin as soon as possible.
Sherwood Psychology is growing and opening a recent satellite office within a pediatric medical clinic. We’re looking for an RP or RP (Qualifying) who is passionate about working with children and teens and wants to build a sustainable caseload within a warm, established group practice.
What Sherwood offers
- A strong referral stream and marketing support to help you build a sustainable caseload
- Full administrative support with inquiries, client matching, scheduling, billing, and payment collection
- Formal supervision for RP (Qualifying) clinicians or consultation for independent RPs—both provided by a PhD-level clinical psychologist
- Regular peer consultation, learning opportunities, and team events
- A practice culture that values sustainable caseloads and work-life balance
- Welcoming, child-friendly office space
- Space at our established Hintonburg office, our new satellite office within a pediatric medical clinic on Merivale Road in the Carlington area, or a combination of both
- The opportunity to work within a pediatric medical clinic and connect with other healthcare professionals
- Flexibility to develop your clinical interests and explore additional opportunities within the practice
Who we’re looking for This opportunity is best suited to a clinician who:
- Is registered with CRPO as an RP or RP (Qualifying)
- Has at least one year of post-graduate experience providing psychotherapy
- Is passionate about working with children, ideally beginning around age five or six, as well as teens and parents
- Is comfortable supporting presentations such as ADHD, autism, OCD, anxiety, depression, and behavioural challenges
- Plans to work primarily in person at our Hintonburg office, our Carlington/Merivale satellite office, or a combination of both, with the option to offer some appointments virtually
- Is looking to build a practice of approximately 20 completed sessions per week and plans to make roughly 23–25 weekly appointment times available as their caseload develops
- Plans to offer at least three consistent, in-person high-demand blocks each week
- Is warm, authentic, and able to connect effectively with clients and families
- Is reliable, communicative, and committed to providing high-quality care
- Is interested in developing a sustainable, longer-term role within the practice
A high-demand block may be:
- An evening from approximately 3:00–8:00 p.m.; or
- A Saturday block of at least four hours
For example, a clinician may choose to offer three evenings or two evenings and a Saturday block, along with some daytime availability. Clinicians determine how to structure their remaining weekly availability. Referrals for adults are also available for clinicians who would like a mixed caseload. Experience providing couples or family therapy is an asset but is not required.
Compensation
Typical current rates within the practice are $175 per session for RP (Qualifying)
clinicians and $185 per session for independent RPs.
Based on these typical fees and Sherwood’s current compensation structure:
- Independent RPs: Approximately $111 per completed session, increasing to approximately $120 when the established caseload threshold is met
- RP (Qualifying) clinicians: Approximately $90 per completed session, increasing to approximately $99 when the established caseload threshold is met
