We are seeking a friendly, knowledgeable, motivated, Sales Associate to join our team at TimberTown Edmonton. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for contractors, builders, tradespeople, homeowners, and DIY customers seeking quality lumber, composite, doors, floors, moulding, and other building materials. You will be responsible for providing expert advice on construction material, generating sales quotes, processing orders, and building long-term customer relationships.

The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of construction and finishing materials, a result-driven sales approach, and a passion for helping customers find the right solutions for their building and renovation projects.

Responsibilities

- Greet customers warmly and identify their needs through active listening and engaging conversation
- Utilize your communication skills and enthusiasm to build lasting relationships and ensure your customers leave satisfied and eager to return
- Read and interpret basic blueprints, material lists and project scope documents to estimate project needs
- Assist customers with accurate quotations, product selection, upselling relevant items to enhance their experience
- Prepare accurate price quotes, sales orders and delivery tickets using the POS system




- Check inventory levels, track backorders, obtain current pricing and secure stocking and non-stocking items through our vendors
- Obtain and maintain a current and thorough knowledge of existing and new products and promote featured products to your customers
- Maintain current knowledge of our competition’s products and pricing
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions, resolving concerns, and ensuring satisfaction
- Contact customers on a regular basis to develop and obtain sales
- Proactively follow up on open quotes and lead enquiries to close sales

Qualifications

- Previous retail sales or customer service experience is an asset
- Prior experience working in construction, contracting, or carpentry is a major plus
- Basic understanding of residential or commercial construction practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical products clearly and confidently
- Strong basic math skills for estimating, handling cash transactions, and POS operations accurately
- Excellent organizational skills to manage time efficiently in a rapid-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to upsell products while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor
- Knowledge of retail merchandising, cashiering procedures, and phone etiquette

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay Structure: Base salary plus profit sharing based on performance and sales generation

Pay: $45,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
