Overview

Join our dedicated team as a School Lunch and Recess Monitor, where your enthusiasm and caring nature will create a safe, engaging, and positive environment for students during their lunch and outdoor playtimes. In this vital role, you will supervise students both in elementary and kindergarten, promote respectful behavior, and ensure a secure space for children to enjoy their breaks. Your proactive approach will foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages social interaction, physical activity, and well-being for all students. Hours will be 11:15am to 2:45pm with the option to supply teacher on occasion.

Duties

- Supervise students during lunch periods and outdoor recess to ensure safety and proper conduct
- Promote positive social interactions among children, encouraging inclusive play and respectful behavior
- Enforce school rules and safety policies to prevent conflicts or unsafe activities
- Assist with managing student behavior, de-escalating conflicts, and providing support when needed
- Monitor the playground and cafeteria areas to identify potential hazards or concerns promptly
- Support students with disabilities or special needs by providing appropriate care and assistance




- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to maintain a safe, organized environment that supports student well-being

Qualifications

- Experience working with children in educational or caregiving settings
- Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and classroom dynamics
- Ability to effectively supervise groups of children during active outdoor play and meal times
- Compassionate attitude with experience supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with students, staff, and parents
- Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
- Prior classroom experience or training in caregiving is preferred but not required
