About iF1 Solutions iF1 Solutions is an established Managed IT Services Provider (MSP) delivering IT infrastructure, cloud, networking, and cybersecurity solutions to businesses across Western Canada.
Founded in 2006, we work with organizations across a variety of industries, providing both day-to-day IT support and complex infrastructure solutions.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Network & Infrastructure Specialist to join our Calgary team. This is a hands-on technical position combining advanced troubleshooting, network architecture, infrastructure implementation, and client-facing consulting.
The Opportunity
This position is ideal for a senior IT professional who enjoys both designing solutions and getting hands-on to solve challenging technical problems.
You will be responsible for supporting and improving client network environments, leading infrastructure projects, and serving as a senior technical escalation resource.
Unlike a traditional corporate IT role, you will work across multiple client environments, technologies, and industries. The successful candidate must be comfortable taking ownership of technical challenges from initial assessment through design, implementation, and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
Network Architecture & Implementation
- Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, and SD-WAN.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernization projects.
- Configure and troubleshoot routing, switching, VLANs, network segmentation, and high-availability solutions.
- Develop network designs that balance performance, reliability, security, and cost.
- Assess existing client environments and recommend infrastructure improvements.
Technical Support & Escalations
- Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex networking and infrastructure issues.
- Troubleshoot network performance, connectivity, firewall, and routing problems.
- Support critical infrastructure and resolve high-priority technical incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective solutions.
- Work with internal technicians and external vendors to resolve complex issues.
Client Consulting & Project Delivery
- Lead technical discussions with clients and translate business requirements into practical IT solutions.
- Conduct infrastructure assessments and provide recommendations.
- Develop technical scopes of work, implementation plans, and project documentation.
- Manage the technical delivery of infrastructure projects from planning through completion.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.
Security & Infrastructure
- Implement network security best practices, including firewall policies, access controls, and network segmentation.
- Support hybrid environments involving on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure.
- Work with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, and related infrastructure technologies.
- Support business continuity, redundancy, and disaster recovery initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in network administration, infrastructure, or enterprise networking.
- Demonstrated experience independently designing and implementing complex network solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewall technologies.
- Strong experience with Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, or comparable enterprise networking platforms.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network issues across multiple locations.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, and Microsoft cloud technologies.
- Experience delivering technical projects and producing accurate network documentation.
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and take ownership of technical issues.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to client sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working for a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or IT consulting firm.
- Experience supporting oil and gas, energy, industrial, or other operationally critical environments.
- Familiarity with remote-site networking, redundant connectivity,
and industrial network segmentation.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki MX, MS, and MR platforms.
- Knowledge of Azure networking, site-to-site VPNs, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, Fortinet NSE/FCP/FCSS, or equivalent technical qualifications.
- Experience with network monitoring, remote management, and IT service management platforms.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and network security best practices.
What We're Looking For Beyond technical qualifications, we're looking for someone who:
- Takes ownership of problems and follows through to resolution.
- Can confidently work directly with clients and explain technical concepts clearly.
- Enjoys a combination of project work and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Can operate independently without requiring constant direction.
- Understands the importance of documentation, standardization, and reliable service delivery.
- Is comfortable working across different technologies and client environments.
- Enjoys mentoring colleagues and sharing technical knowledge.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive annual salary of $110,000–$135,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Health Spending Account.
- Internet and Cell phone allowance.
- Opportunities for career development and technical certifications.
- Exposure to diverse enterprise infrastructure environments and technologies.
- A collaborative team environment with opportunities to influence technical standards and solutions.
Apply If you're an experienced networking professional who enjoys designing infrastructure, solving complex problems, and working directly with clients, we'd like to hear from you.
