About the opportunity:

BC Labour Service is building a roster of traffic control persons for future assignments across Burnaby, Vancouver, and Metro Vancouver.

We’re looking for people who stay alert, give clear directions, and communicate calmly with drivers, pedestrians, and other workers. A current TCP certificate from a WorkSafeBC-approved training program is required before placement.

We have not confirmed projects or start dates yet. Registering your interest does not guarantee employment or weekly hours. When suitable work becomes available, we’ll contact you to discuss the assignment, pay, schedule, and site requirements before you decide whether to accept.

What the work may involve:

Depending on the assignment, duties may include:

- Directing traffic from the assigned position in accordance with the site traffic control plan
- Using the required signals, signs, and radio procedures
- Helping maintain pedestrian access and communicating changes to the supervisor
- Setting out or removing devices only when trained and assigned to do so
- Reporting unsafe conditions and following procedures for breaks and relief coverage

What we’re looking for:

- Current certification from a WorkSafeBC-approved TCP training program

- Ability to understand the site plan and communicate directions clearly
- Attention to moving traffic, escape routes, and changing work zone conditions
- Ability to carry out assigned duties safely while standing and working outdoors
- Dependable attendance and ability to reach sites in your agreed service area

Tell us your TCP training provider, certificate expiry date, and relevant experience. Certification will be verified before placement. Requirements will vary by assignment. Expected hourly pay: $23–$28 for traffic control assignments, depending on your experience and the site requirements. Assignments requiring additional qualifications or responsibilities may offer higher rates. Your pay rate will be confirmed before you accept each assignment.

How to register your interest:

Send your résumé or a short summary of your experience to [email protected].

Include your availability, the areas you can travel to, and any relevant training or certifications. You do not need to send your SIN, banking information, or identification documents with your application.
