The Position
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and reliable Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our team.
This position will be primarily based at Midtown Veterinary Hospital, with occasional shifts at Vic West Pet Hospital as needed.
The role combines front-desk responsibilities with hands-on animal care. We are looking for someone comfortable working in a rapid-paced environment, particularly when handling urgent cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet clients, answer phone calls, and schedule appointments.
- Manage patient records, payments, and client communications.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient handling and treatments.
- Prepare examination rooms and treatment areas.
- Help coordinate urgent appointments and maintain efficient patient flow.
- Maintain hospital cleanliness, organization, and supplies.
- Communicate compassionately with clients during stressful situations.
- Work collaboratively with the veterinary team while taking initiative independently.
What We're Looking For
- Previous veterinary clinic experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working 12 PM–8 PM shifts.
- Willingness to work at both hospital locations when required.
- Experience with veterinary practice management software is an asset.
