Volunteer Coordinator

This is a role for someone who genuinely loves film and people and who doesn't mind wearing a lot of hats — yes, sometimes at the same time.

You'll be the heartbeat of volunteer operations for the Victoria Film Festival, making sure every volunteer is in the right place at the right time.

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll take the reins and manage a program where volunteers go from "I'll help out" to "I can't wait." You'll work closely with engaged staff and hand-picked volunteer teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Volunteer Coordination

As the Volunteer Coordinator, your job will be to manage a proactive volunteer recruiting, training and retention program. In addition, you will be responsible for scheduling volunteers at venues and for transportation of guests.

Recruitment & People

- Write recruitment copy
- Screen, onboard, train, schedule and supervise all the volunteers (<200)
- Hand-pick teams for hospitality, guest handling and transportation
- Encourage volunteers to document and blog about the Festival





Operation & Logistics
- Manage scheduling via Shiftboard
- Coordinate venue management alongside the Operations Manager
- Oversee venue decor, receptions and Opening Gala
- Organize EndFest and assist with PreFest
- Find volunteers to proof program guide
- Track data throughout and deliver final report

Applicants must demonstrate:

- Robust people skills and comfort managing a large team of volunteers (<200)
- Experience with recruiting, training, and retention programs
- Scheduling experience, ideally with tools like Shiftboard
- Ability to coordinate logistics across multiple venues and events
- Strong written communication skills (recruitment copy, reports)
- The capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, busy, team-oriented environment

Schedule: Full-time November 23 to December 18, and January 4 to February 19. Salary: $1,000/week.

Pay: $1,000.00 per week
