We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Tricity Animal Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary staff and ensuring the well-being of our patients. You will be responsible for assisting with routine animal care, preparing and maintaining examination rooms, performing basic medical procedures, and providing excellent customer service to pet owners.

Key Responsibilities :

- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and comfortably during exams and procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Collect samples for lab tests (blood, urine, feces) and assist with laboratory procedures.
- Perform basic animal care tasks, including feeding, grooming, and cleaning.
- Maintain patient records accurately and update them as needed.
- Assist with patient intake, including taking vital signs, medical histories, and discussing symptoms with pet owners.
- Provide compassionate and clear communication to pet owners, addressing their questions and concerns.
- Help with inventory management, including stocking supplies and ordering materials when needed.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the hospital, following safety protocols.





Qualifications :

- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or certification in veterinary assistance is a plus).
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service-oriented approach.
- Ability to handle and care for animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Ability to lift heavy items such as bags of animal food, medical supplies, and assist with lifting animals when necessary.
- Valuable organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction from veterinarians and technicians.
- Basic knowledge of animal health, medical terminology, and veterinary procedures is a plus.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in emergency situations.

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
