based on demonstrated performance and contributions to the gyms success. This position is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a sales-oriented mindset, and a genuine enthusiasm for health and fitness. You’ll help oversee a small team, ensure smooth 24/7 operations, and contribute to building a thriving community gym in Vancouver’s competitive fitness market.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Help oversee day-to-day gym activities, including facility maintenance, cleanliness, equipment upkeep, and safety compliance to maintain our high standards as a 24/7 accessible gym.
- Membership Sales and Growth: Actively sell memberships, personal training packages, and ancillary services; conduct tours, handle inquiries, and implement marketing strategies to attract and retain members in the Point Grey area.
- Team Leadership: Help recruit, train, schedule, and manage staff (including personal trainers and member associate team); foster a motivated, collaborative environment.
- Member Experience: Provide exceptional customer service by building relationships with members, addressing concerns, organizing events, and promoting a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere tailored to Vancouver’s diverse, active population.
- Financial and Administrative Duties: Monitor budgets, track key metrics (e.g., membership numbers, revenue), manage inventory, and ensure compliance with Anytime Fitness franchise standards and local regulations.
- Community Engagement: Partner with local businesses, UBC students/staff, and Point Grey residents to promote the gym through events, social media, and outreach, leveraging Vancouver’s fitness culture.
- Flexible Scheduling: Work a mix of mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends to support our 24/7 model, with on-call availability as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: 2+ years in fitness management, sales, or a related customer-facing role; prior experience in a gym or franchise setting (e.g., Anytime Fitness or similar) is highly preferred. Knowledge of Vancouver’s fitness scene, including trends like outdoor activities, wellness programs, and competition from local spots like UBC Rec or Kitsilano gyms, is a plus.
- Education and Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in kinesiology, business, or a related field is an asset. Personal Training Certification (e.g., CSEP, ACE, or CanFitPro) and CPR/First Aid/AED certification are strongly preferred.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to lead teams, hit sales targets, and resolve issues. Tech-savvy with experience using, or ability to learn to use gym management software. Strong organizational skills to handle multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
