Job Description
Mandate Overview:
- The client is seeking a senior business analyst capable ofoperating autonomously within a multi-year program of approximately $12M over 3years in individual insurance, already underway. The setting is agile, matrixed, multi-team, and evolving: stakeholders are not always identified, andthe individual must progressively structure a complex need without being toldhow to proceed.
- The client's top requirement is business understanding: theindividual must be able to explain what they document (impacts by businessarea, rationale behind a business rule), challenge the responses receivedrather than simply recording them, and escalate as soon as an issue blockstheir progress.
- The role is distinct from the PO, who retains scopedecisions at the story level, and the PM, who retains them at the featurelevel: the BA contributes to the backlog at both levels without owning thedecisions. A background in individual insurance (life, health, disability, annuities) accelerates onboarding, and knowledge of claims remains an asset, fully met in individual insurance (disability, death, critical illness) andpartially met in property and casualty insurance.
- The manager herself comes from a business analysisbackground and evaluates analytical depth during interviews: each candidatemust be able to demonstrate at least one initiative carried through tocompletion.
- Ideal candidate: a senior business analyst with formal BAmandates, including at least one multi-team program in an agile environment, capable of describing a recent initiative in detail: impacts identified, questions asked to determine those impacts, issues escalated, and deliverablescompleted through approval. Experience in individual insurance or claimsaccelerates onboarding but is not a disqualifying factor.
