Greenhouse is searching for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our Employer Experience & Talent Discovery team. This team builds the experiences and signals that help employers find the right talent faster, while creating the foundation for a trusted talent discovery ecosystem.

You’ll work across the stack to build product capabilities and the search and matching systems behind them, with a particular focus on OpenSearch or Elasticsearch and practical applications of AI to matching, ranking, and search relevance.

Design and ship search-backed capabilities using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing strategies, query design, relevance tuning, ranking improvements, and semantic retrieval patterns





Develop matching systems that combine keyword, structured, and semantic signals, applying AI/ML techniques such as embeddings, similarity search, classification, and ranking to improve match quality and consistency

Partner with Applied ML and cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate trade-offs across relevance, latency, reliability, infrastructure cost, and user trust

Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, conduct thorough code reviews, and contribute to team engineering practices

5+ years of experience writing production code

- Deep experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch in production, including indexing, query design, relevance tuning, and performance trade-offs
- Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python; Ruby on Rails preferred
- Robust JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including React
- Full-stack experience across backend systems, APIs, data modeling, and modern frontend development
- Experience building search, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems
- Practical experience applying AI or ML techniques in production, such as embeddings, semantic search, classification, or ranking
- Experience with analytical databases, a plus

Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including stock option awards, bonuses, and merit increases.
