At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good. Our People & Places Solutions business – reinforces our drive to improve the lives of people everywhere and epitomizes the "why" of what we do – the tremendous positive impact and value our solutions bring to our communities and society as a whole. From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology – we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.
The energy industry, particularly transmission grids, is undergoing major changes to accommodate for regional and global decarbonization and energy transition targets. Underground and subsea cable technology are, in particular, increasingly becoming a major player in this energy paradigm shift to enable large-scale renewable energy generation, such as offshore wind, green hydrogen or large interconnectors.
As a power system studies engineer, you will closely work with regional and global power systems teams to support and/or lead ongoing projects as well as business development and proposal support with a variety of clients including renewable developers, transmission owner/developers as well as utilities.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate related experience and technical knowledge in power system modeling and analysis with renewable generation through past experience with consulting engineering firms, developers and/or utilities.

Prior knowledge of electrical system studies from the conceptual engineering phase through the FEED-ready phase related to renewable generation interconnection is preferred. Knowledge of the offshore wind/HVDC will also be seen favorably.
This position is versatile and can be remote anywhere in North America. Perform power system studies (internal to the plant) including, but not limited to, load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash and harmonics.
Perform power system studies (external to the plant) related to interconnection to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements as well as NERC standards.
Support system studies project(s) throughout the whole lifecycle (i.e. from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close-out).
Contribute to the delivery of projects, delivering on time and to budget.
Work with different types of customers including renewable developers, utilities, and ISOs/RTOs.
Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and other technical committees such as IEEE or CIGRE.
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized institution.
Minimum 4 years of direct experience with system studies on utility scale renewable projects.
Ability and willingness to travel within North America.
Experience with offshore wind and HVDC.
Knowledge of programming languages to streamline studies using Python.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Jacobs welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.
