Salary : CG-42 (CAD 44.64 - CAD 55.25 per hour) which includes any negotiated wage adjustment and/or supplement as applicable

Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NL Health Services) brings together five former separate health entities - Eastern Health, Central Health, Western Health, Labrador-Grenfell Health, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information. The creation of a provincial health authority was announced following recommendations from Health Accord NL.

NL Health Services is responsible for delivering health and community services to more than 528,000 people living in Newfoundland and Labrador and employs over 21,000 people. The Clinical Dietitian II is part of an inter-disciplinary team responsible for the monitoring and licensing of Personal Care Homes. This includes the monitoring of activities and reports related to nutrition and food service for assigned Personal Care Homes to ensure compliance to the Personal Care Home Program Operational Standards and the Personal Care Home Regulations 2001. There is a possibility of after-hours/weekend monitoring that may be required as part of the monitoring process. The Clinical Dietitian II collaborates with the inter-professional health care team in the provision of nutrition care; provides counselling/education to residents and staff of Personal Care Homes; participates in interdisciplinary team meetings,



annual review meetings and investigations of complaints and completion of inspections which may require visits after hours and on weekends; The Clinical Dietitian II will engage in practice, program and quality improvement initiatives. The incumbent is required to support NL Health Service's Dietetic Internship Program through contribution of clinical practice expertise and/or preceptorship of dietetic interns.

This position reports to the Manager of the Personal Care Home Program and maintains accountability to the Provincial Qualified Practice Consultant for Dietitians for integrity and professional practice.

Regularly requires alertness to the health and safety of others (i.e. tube fed patients, clients with swallowing issues, etc.

Advice provided to clients impacts the health and safety of a client in regard to reactions to food allergies or blood glucose levels).

Regularly there are time pressures and deadlines and often there is lack of control over work pace.

Regularly requires a high level of attentiveness for exact results and precision for renal calculations, tube feeding and calculating nutrition prescriptions.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent from a nationally accredited university program and successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program is required.

Current Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians is required.

Previous Clinical Dietitian experience in geriatric nutrition would be considered an asset.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team would be considered an asset.

A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.

A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
