● Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an asset
● Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work within deadlines
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
What you will do
● Design, build and maintain features across the full stack of the Surge Learning platform ([front end framework], [back-end language/framework], [database], [hosting/cloud])
● Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot coding agent, Cursor, or similar) daily to plan, implement, test and refactor code, while owning every line that ships
● Write and maintain agent context files (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, .github/copilot-instructions.md) so agents follow our conventions, architecture and security rules consistently
● Break features into well-scoped tasks that can be delegated to agents, then review agent output with the same rigor as a human pull request
- Manage the backlog in GitHub Issues and Projects, writing issues clear enough to assign directly to a coding agent
● Build and maintain automated test suites that act as guardrails for agent-generated code
- Build and maintain GitHub Actions pipelines for build, lint, test and deployment,
including workflows that trigger or review agent runs
- Maintain release discipline: tagged releases, changelogs and semantic versioning
● Connect agents to our tools and data through MCP servers where it improves speed or accuracy, without exposing sensitive data
- Manage agent access with least-privilege tokens and scoped permissions
- Apply sound judgment on security and data privacy when handling customer and learner data
Nice to have
● Experience building or extending MCP servers
● Machine learning experience (model training, evaluation, or integrating ML models into applications)
● Experience with LMS, SCORM/xAPI or e-learning platforms
● Deeper AWS experience (infrastructure, deployment, monitoring)
● Demonstrated agentic development work: a repo, PR history or walkthrough showing agent-assisted work, including where you corrected or rejected the agent's output
Preferred Attributes
● Personable and comfortable working directly with customers and partners
● Fluency in English is required
● Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Analytical / Decision-Making Responsibilities
● Analytical ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks into manageable work products
● Can operate independently or with minimum supervision
● Strong fundamentals: able to debug, design schemas and reason about performance without an AI assistant
● Ability to deliver technical demonstrations

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
