Join one of Edmonton's busiest shopping destinations as a Full-Time Security Officer at Kingsway Mall. This role provides a dynamic, high-volume environment where you can build hands-on experience in emergency response, public safety, and incident resolution. Working alongside an experienced team, local law enforcement, and emergency responders, you will help maintain a safe and welcoming space for tenants, staff, and visitors.

We are currently offering a $1,000 signing bonus for this position. Base pay is $20.50 per hour, with an increased rate of $22.50 per hour for overnight shifts.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means being a steady, proactive, and professional presence on site. You will handle routine patrols and unexpected events with confidence, making quick decisions while keeping de-escalation and safety top of mind.

In your day-to-day operations, you will:

- Patrol mall property on foot, covering up to 18 to 20 kilometers and navigating stairs during a shift to deter incidents and assist patrons.
- Enforce mall regulations, municipal bylaws, and provincial statutes, including the Trespass to Property Act and Section 494 lawful arrests under the Canadian Criminal Code when necessary.
- Collaborate directly with the Edmonton Police Service (EPS), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFD) during incident responses.
- Respond to medical emergencies and administer basic first aid as a first responder.
- De-escalate challenging conflict situations calmly, applying approved use-of-force principles safely and appropriately when required.
- Complete detailed, accurate incident reports and maintain continuous communication with team members using two-way radios.

Training & Provided Equipment





You will be set up for success before taking on independent duty. All new officers complete a 3-week in-house training program covering emergency management, legal authorities, and de-escalation.

You will also be fully equipped with professional equipment, including:

- Level IIIA ballistic protective vest
- Axon body-worn camera system
- Two-way radio communications equipment
- Handcuffs and standard duty gear

What You Need to Succeed

Must-Have Requirements:

- Valid Alberta Security License.
- Valid Class 5 Advanced Driver's License or higher (Class 7 or Class 5 GDL licenses are not accepted).
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Open availability to work full-time across various shifts, including day, evening, overnight, and weekend schedules.
- Physical stamina to walk up to 20 km per shift, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

- Prior experience in frontline security, public safety, or emergency response.
- Background in customer service or conflict resolution.
