As a Shipyard Labourer, your primary role is to provide essential support to various construction, maintenance, and repair activities within the shipyard. Your versatility, physical stamina, and commitment to safety will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of shipbuilding projects by performing a range of manual tasks and assisting skilled tradespeople.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCleaning and preparing job sites; Operate as firewatch for hot work or confined space; Perform routinephysical labour; moving materials, toolsand/or equipment; Completing minor carpentry tasks; Operating various types of tools such as, pneumatic, electric, and hand; brush roll or hand painting; Convey tools and materials to and from work sites; Using a varietyof tools and machines depending on the job; Work in multiple environments from an indoor facility, elevated heights, which may include tasks performed on scaffolding, ladders, or other elevated structures, confined spaces within vessels, outside spaces with exposure to all elements; Keep the shop/work site as a safe and clean environment to work in; Comply with A.FTheriault & Son Ltd. Policies and proceduresand Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Follow safety protocols and maintain, use and wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) applicable to the area you will be in or the operation or task you are about to conduct to prevent accidents. Ensure potential health and safety hazards are corrected or brought to the attention of Management and/or Health and Safety Committee in order to prevent accidents in the workplace; Perform other duties as required; Ensure that materials on jobs in hand are being correctly charged to the proper job numbers, activity codes and/or others; Willing to workovertime and weekends as needed to complete project deadlines; Willing to go to apprenticeship training if applicable; Participate in continuous improvement efforts.RequirementsBe trustworthy, dependable and confident, have a positive attitude,
