Role Overview

Healthcare security is more than maintaining safety—it is about supporting individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments. In this role, you will help protect patients, clinical staff, and visitors in a community hospital workplace. You will serve as a calm, professional presence, de-escalating tense situations, responding to emergency calls, and ensuring a safe space for healthcare delivery.

This position provides meaningful, hands‑on experience in de‑escalation, emergency response, and patient interaction. It is an ideal role if you care about community service, or if you are seeking a strong foundation for a future career in policing, corrections, or advanced security operations.

Pay Rate: $26.01 per hour, plus a $1,000 bonus.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role relies on empathy, physical stamina, and strong judgement under pressure.

Day‑to‑Day

- Maintain a visible, reassuring presence by conducting regular foot patrols (walking up to 18-20 km per shift and climbing stairs).
- Assist hospital staff, patients, and visitors with clear directions, friendly customer service, and respectful communication.
- De‑escalate high‑stress situations with patience, diplomacy, and sound conflict‑management techniques.
- Respond promptly to emergency codes, alarms, and requests for assistance from clinical staff.
- Maintain confidentiality while documenting incidents clearly and accurately through detailed written reports and site logs.

Over Time

- Build strong,



trust‑based relationships with healthcare staff and site leadership.
- Master healthcare safety protocols, crisis management, and site‑specific emergency response procedures.
- Develop advanced skills in conflict management that prepare you for leadership or advanced roles within our organization.

What You Need (Must‑Haves)

- Must live within 30 minutes of Valleyview, AB.
- Full availability to work a varied schedule, including days, evenings, nights, overnights, and weekends (available 7 days a week).
- Ability to obtain an Alberta Security License.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
- Physical ability to walk 18-20 km per shift and navigate stairs regularly.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills to write thorough reports and interact professionally under pressure.
- Authorization to work in Canada.
