Role Overview

Healthcare security guards play a vital role in supporting clinical teams and maintaining a safe, calm environment for patients, staff, and visitors. In this position, your primary responsibility will be conducting Patient Watches—monitoring individuals who may present a danger to themselves or others, while maintaining strict confidentiality and safety standards.

This role offers a meaningful way to serve your community. It is ideal for individuals who bring strong interpersonal skills, a qualified customer-service mindset, and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure healthcare settings. Full paid training, including Healthcare Security Training and First Aid certification, is provided.

Pay and Shift Details

- Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour
- Travel Reimbursement: Mileage reimbursed at company rates for travel using your personal vehicle.
- Schedule: On-demand, full-time hours with open availability required. Shifts include days, overnights, weekends, and short-notice call-ins.
- Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel to healthcare facilities within the surrounding rural area (up to a 500 km radius) as needed.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means providing a calm, steady presence while ensuring facility safety and compliance with healthcare security protocols.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

- Conduct dedicated Patient Watches, closely observing patient behavior while prioritizing safety and privacy.
- Use non-defensive communication and de-escalation techniques to handle tense or difficult situations safely.
- Maintain continuous awareness and immediately communicate safety concerns or behavioral changes to clinical and security staff.
- Screen visitors, assist guests, and complete regular facility foot patrols.
- Keep clear,



accurate daily logs and incident reports using two-way radios and computer software.
- Comfortably adapt to physical requirements, which include extended periods of sitting during patient watches as well as active walking patrols.
- Build trusted, professional working relationships with facility medical teams, site management, and security peers.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of site-specific emergency response protocols, safety codes, and security operations.

Position Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications

- Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for regional travel.
- Willingness to travel up to 500 km within the region to support surrounding healthcare facilities.
- Open shift availability, including days, overnights, weekends, and on-call requests.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Ability to pass a standard criminal record check and meet provincial security licensing requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with a professional and compassionate approach to customer service.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

- Valid provincial Security License or completion of Basic Security Training (BST).
- Current First Aid / CPR certification (training will be provided if needed).
- Prior experience in Healthcare Security, Customer Service, or Crisis De-escalation (such as CPI/NVCI training).

We set our team members up for long-term success. Successful candidates will receive complete Healthcare Security Training and First Aid certification directly through Paladin Security prior to deployment.
