Based in Saskatoon, SK, KL Engineering Inc. (KL Eng) delivers multidisciplinary solutions for the mining, agriculture, and industrial sectors. It is a faith-driven organization with a purpose to glorify God as faithful stewards, to serve our clients with technical excellence, and to empower our people to live out their full potential.
From steel platforms to custom-engineered solutions, our work directly supports some of the region's most essential industries. Constructors and clients often praise our designs for their thoughtful constructability and ease of installation.
The Opportunity KL Eng is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer / Project Manager to join our growing team. This role is for a technically strong engineer who wants to start running projects, not just designing them. You will design steel and concrete structures for potash, uranium, and ag-industrial facilities and manage your own small and mid-sized projects from proposal to construction, with direct coaching from the founder on scope, schedule, budget, and client communication.
You will work in a fast-paced, high-trust setting and gain project management experience much earlier than you would at a larger firm. This role is ideal for an ambitious structural engineer who learns quickly, takes ownership, and wants to grow into a senior engineer and project manager. We encourage the use of safe AI tools and automation applied to real engineering work, including calculations, documentation, and project tracking.
KL Eng is also posting a Senior Structural Engineer / Project Manager role. Applicants will be considered for the level that best fits their experience. Key Responsibilities Design steel, concrete, and wood structures for mainly industrial projects, including platforms,

conveyor galleries, equipment supports, foundations, and lifting structures
Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications, and take Engineer of Record responsibility on assigned projects once licensed
Visit sites to inspect existing structures and recommend repairs and modifications
Design connections, review shop drawings and respond to RFIs
Support and review the work of engineers-in-training and technologists
Help improve internal standards, templates, and AI-assisted workflows
Project Management Manage assigned projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables
Help prepare proposals, fee estimates, and work plans
Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and keep them updated on progress
Coordinate work with EITs, technologists and other disciplines
Track project hours against budget and flag changes in scope early
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a Master’s degree or PHD in Structural Engineering is an asset
P.Eng. designation with APEGS, or eligible to register within 12 months
4 to 8 years of structural design experience in industrial, mining, or heavy commercial
Solid structural steel and concrete design skills with strong knowledge of CSA S16, CSA A23.3, and the NBC (i.e. you will know the location of the common clauses in these standards, and quickly navigate to them)

Proficiency with structural analysis software such as Autodesk Robot, Hilti Profis, Skyciv
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Bluebeam, Excel, MathCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, Navisworks, eDrawing, Tekla, and Trimble Connect.
Some project management experience, or a strong desire to learn it: scope, schedule, budget, and client communication
Clear written and verbal communication, and a habit of owning work
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and the willingness to travel to sites as required
Considered a Strong Asset Experience in potash, uranium, or ag-industrial facilities
Experience preparing proposals, fee estimates, or project schedules
Project management training or certification
Use of AI tools such as Claude or Microsoft Copilot, or automation with Python or similar
Familiarity with American codes and standards such as AISC and ACI
What KL Eng Offers Competitive Compensation Base salary of $85,000 to $130,000 per year depending on experience, licensure, and project management capability, plus performance-based incentives, regular salary reviews, and a negotiable Health Spending Account allowance
Invest in Your Future Company-sponsored technical and project management training, and reimbursement of professional membership fees
Flexibility Flexible or hybrid work options while staying closely connected to impactful projects
Leadership Potential Direct mentorship from the founder and a clear pathway to Senior Structural Engineer / Project Manager
At KL Eng, this is more than your next job; it’s a chance to uncover your passions, amplify your strengths, and unlock your full potential.
