Legal Counsel, Personal & Business Banking – BMO
Position: Legal Counsel for Personal & Business Banking division at BMO, located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Key Eligibility Criteria

Law degree (LLB or JD) and license to practice in relevant jurisdiction.

Less than 7 years of legal practice or equivalent education/experience.

Experience in private practice, in‑house counsel or regulatory body preferred.

Fluency in French and English required.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work





Provide legal and regulatory advice on products, initiatives, strategies, policies and developments.

Negotiate and influence to achieve business objectives while minimizing legal risk.

Deliver legal advice, instruct external counsel and ensure compliance with internal policies.

Act as subject‑matter expert on relevant laws, regulations and policies.

Identify and mitigate risks, implement improvements and build stakeholder relationships.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode
Salary range: $80,000.00 – $175,000.00 (Salaried). Perks include health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, retirement savings plans and potential performance‑based incentives.
